This property was built in the early seventeenth century by initiative of Lorenzo Benítez Pereira de Lugo, later to be inherited by the Marqueses de la Florida. The cultural, social and political importance of this Marquesado meant that the mansion was a focal point for all personalities who visited La Orotava. The house is built around a central courtyard and follows the principles of Canarian architecture of the period. The façade is notable for its characteristic balcony with sash window and balustrade dating from the nineteenth century. Of equal significance is the break in the façade as the building was adapted to the plot of land, determined by the curve of the stretch of road on which it stands. During the twentieth century the building underwent other substantial reforms due to the demands of various commercial activities that were established there.
