There is a great winery tradition in La Villa de La Orotava since the 15th century and in the 17th century, the valley that bears its name was marked almost entirely by wine production, without forgetting that the Villa does not only worship its wines, but also water, that basic natural resource of great importance for its economy. Two types of wines, considered the best quality, were harvested mainly in the La Orotava Valley: Malvasía and Canary Sack.
Visits to wineries are almost an obligation for lovers of wine and traditions, in which the most advanced technologies are combined with the tradition of craftsmanship, which allows obtaining wines of excellent quality.
For centuries, the La Orotava Valley has preserved the traditional multiple cordon conduction system, forming part of the landscape heritage of the regional area, which appears on the slopes of Teide and gives the wines of the Valle de La Denomination of Origin Orotava a special singularity.
